It can be found commonly in plants like banana, onion, garlic, artichoke, asparagus, and chicory. It aids the absorption of calcium and magnesium in the body. It has a low calorific value and can even aid constipation. FOS is generally used in the manufacture of many commercial foods including ready-to-eat cereals, ice creams, hard candies, muffins, baby foods, yogurt, pre-prepared soups, jams, and jellies.
