Lactase Beta Galactosidase is an enzyme that helps hydrolyse lactose. This enzyme is present in the small intestine and its deficiency results in lactose intolerance. The enzyme is used extensively in the food industry. Lactase Beta Galactosidase is found abundantly in fungi, yeasts, and bacteria. The enzyme is also found in plant sources including apricots, apples, almonds, and peaches.
